Second Semester H.S. Open House Set for Jan. 31

Saucon Valley High School will host a Second Semester Open House on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013 from 6:30 to 8:15pm, the school announced recently.

From 6:30pm until 6:50pm in the high school auditorium, a session on new high school graduation requirements that will go into effect next school year will be presented.

This is a parent-only evening designed to provide an opportunity for parents to meet with their children's teachers and gain an understanding of second semester expectations.

Student guides will provide direction in the hallways, and teachers who teach courses that are offered in a year-long strip, i.e. math, world language, etc., will be available for individual 10-minute parent conferences from 7 to 8:15pm.

These teachers will not hold a full class meeting in order to accommodate individual conferences during Open House hours.

Parents who plan to attend should contact the high school main office to schedule an interview with a specific math, world language and/or special education teacher.

Conference time slots are available on a limited basis, so parents should call the office as soon as possible.

Teachers who teach courses in a semester block will be available for more traditional "meet the teacher" opportunities from 7 to 8:15pm based on students' specific schedules, which will be available for parents upon their arrival.

The "meet the teacher" sessions are not designed to address specific student progress, but to layout course specific curriculum and classroom criteria for the second semester.
