New Member Appointed to Saucon Valley School Board

Eric Adams, a Saucon Valley resident who fought to have the book 'Nickel and Dimed' banned from use in Easton Area schools' curriculum last year, was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Saucon Valley School Board Tuesday.

A Lower Saucon Township resident who last year fought unsuccessfully to have the book "Nickel and Dimed" removed from the curriculum in Easton Area schools on the grounds that it promotes a socialist agenda was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Saucon Valley Valley School Board Tuesday by a vote of 5-2, the Express-Times reported.

The newspaper reported that the vote to appoint Eric Adams was contentious, with school board member Sandra Miller accusing other board members of discussing the appointment outside the meeting.

Adams was appointed to fill a vacancy created with the resignation of board member Lanita Lum, whose term was due to expire at the end of this year.
