Saucon Valley Mourns Death of Winningest Baseball Coach

William E. "Bill" Rogers Jr. was Saucon Valley's head baseball coach from 1985 to 2008. He died Feb. 10, 2012 at the age of 66.

The and Saucon Valley Athletic Department are mourning the death of William E. "Bill" Rogers Jr., the district announced in a news alert Sunday.

Rogers, 66, was a resident of Bethlehem and died Feb. 10 at St. Luke's Hospital in Fountain Hill, according to an obituary published online by the Express-Times.

According to the district's statement, he served as a teacher in the district for 35 years and was Saucon Valley's head baseball coach for 24 seasons, from 1985 to 2008.

During his tenure as head baseball coach, Rogers "obtained a record of 265 wins and 244 losses and won three District XI Championships (1990, 1993 and 1999)," the news alert indicated.

Rogers was also reportedly the winningest coach in Hellertown/Saucon Valley baseball history, which spans 94 years.
