Local Students Inducted Into Math Honor Society

Jennifer Duncan and Joseph Marlin, both of whom are DeSales University students from Hellertown, were recently inducted into the Pennsylvania Tau Chapter of the national mathematics honor society, Kappa Mu Epsilon.

Two Hellertown-area students attending DeSales University were recently inducted into the Pennsylvania Tau chapter of the national mathematics honor society Kappa Mu Epsilon, according to a press release.

Jennifer Duncan and Joseph Marlin, both of whom are computer science and math majors at the Center Valley school, were among the students inducted on May 26.

"To qualify for membership students must rank in the top 35 percent of their class, while completing three college mathematics courses, maintaining at least a B average in all of them. Members are recognized and honored for individual achievements in mathematics," the press release states.

Founded in 1931, Kappa Mu Epsilon is a specialized honor society in mathematics that promotes the interest of mathematics among undergraduate students and to help undergraduate students realize the important role that mathematics has played in the development of civilization. The society has 144 active chapters and more than 75,000 members in 35 states.
