Foundation Plans Guest Bartender Fundraiser

The Saucon Valley Foundation for Educational Innovation will hold a Guest Bartender Fundraiser at Braveheart Highland Pub in Hellertown on Thursday, Feb. 2. The event will benefit the Saucon Valley School District's Environmental Education Center.

On Thursday, Feb. 2, you'll be able to have a drink and help promote environmental education at the same time. How often can you say that?

The confluence of single malt scotch and ecological awareness is thanks to a Guest Bartender Fundraiser planned by the nonprofit Saucon Valley Foundation for Educational Innovation, which helps fund projects and programs that are "above and beyond" what the already provides students.

In a press release, the foundation explained that the purpose of the upcoming fundraiser is to raise money and awareness for the district's .

The event will be held at , 430 Main St., in Hellertown, at 6pm.

The press release explained that a percentage of each restaurant and bar purchase made that evening--as well as all tips--will be donated to assist with the building of . The family and/or adult evening will also include a 50-50 raffle, local business gift certificate raffles and a silent auction.

The guest bartenders on Feb. 2 will be Tom Coakley, Tim Kennedy, Joe Savage, Ed Sinko, Dave Spirk and Kent Weaver, all of whom are local parents/businessmen, friends of the foundation and supporters of the Environmental Education Center, it was explained.

The Saucon Valley Foundation for Educational Innovation was established in 2007 by a group of community and business leaders who "want to ensure the continued success of current students, as well as that of future generations."

"The foundation’s mission is to achieve and maintain innovative excellence by employing private resources to supplement traditional classroom funding," according to its mission statement.
