10th Anniversary of 9-11 at Northampton Community College

A commemoration will take place at Thursday, September 8 at 11 a.m. on Main Campus in the College Center, Room 220. The event will feature a keynote address by Vertel Martin, associate professor of criminal justice and a retired lieutenant in the New York City Police Department.  Martin served as commanding officer for the World Trade Center Missing Persons Task Force after the attacks. 

The event will also include the singing of the Star-Spangled Banner by NCC student Elena Zervos, a talk about the changing world by Professor of History Michael McGovern, a poetry reading by student Kyle Apgar, a bagpipe rendition of "Amazing Grace," and a replica of the Twin Towers designed by members of the campus architecture club.  The names of the victims will be read in Laub Lounge, College Center, beginning at noon.  Pictures of the College's response to the attacks will be exhibited in Laub Lounge. 

The commemoration is being sponsored by the college's Band of Brothers Club. For more information call 610-861-5300.
