District's Tax Rebate Program Deadline is April 30

The deadline to apply for Saucon Valley School District's 2012 tax rebate program is approaching. The program is only available to district taxpayers who meet certain criteria.

The following information was provided by the Saucon Valley School District. For additional information and/or questions, contact the school district business office at 610-838-7028, ext. 1110. Information is also available online at www.svpanthers.org.

Saucon Valley School District is offering a property tax rebate of up to $650 to any homeowner that was eligible and received a 2011 Pennsylvania Property Tax Rebate. The 2011 Pennsylvania Property Tax Rebate had to be processed before Dec. 31, 2012, and the Pennsylvania Property Tax Rebate check would have been received no later than March 2013.

The 2012 Saucon Valley School District rebate is only available to taxpayers who received the 2011 rebate, as well as own and reside in a primary residence within the school district. The applicant or someone on his/her behalf must have paid the school district taxes on the residence for 2011-2012, and the taxes must have been paid before the filing of the rebate claim.

The amount of the rebate is calculated based upon the amount of the 2011-2012 school real estate tax paid.

In order to qualify for a rebate:

  • You must have owned and occupied a residence within the Saucon Valley School District during the 2011-2012 school year AND
  • You or your spouse must have been at least 65 years old as of Dec. 31, 2011 OR
  • You were a widow or widower during all or part of 2011 and at least 50 years old as of Dec. 31, 2011 OR
  • You were permanently disabled during all or part of 2011 and were unable to work because of a medically determined physical or mental disability AND
  • Your total 2011 household income (including your spouse's) must have been $35,000 or less. Fifty percent of social security or railroad retirement income shall be included in determining household income.

Only one member from each household may file a rebate claim.
