Borough Native Researching Epilepsy Using Fruit Flies

Hellertown native and recent Cornell University graduate Kaitlin Hardy is currently conducting research on epilepsy--which she suffers from--at Lafayette College.

A Hellertown native who recently graduated from Cornell University is making a name for herself in the fields of epilepsy research and advocacy, according to a story published in the Morning Call June 26.

Kaitlin Hardy--who is now studying epilepsy in fruit flies in experiments at Lafayette College--was first diagnosed with a seizure disorder as a teenager, the story states.

A Palisades High School graduate and former Parkettes gymnast, while studying and competing in gymnastics at Cornell, Hardy founded a support organization for students known as FACES (Facts, Advocacy and Control of Epileptic Seizures).
