Township Has Openings on Zoning Board, EAC

Lower Saucon Township is seeking volunteers to fill vacancies on its Zoning Hearing Board and Environmental Advisory Council (EAC).

Lower Saucon Township has announced several openings for volunteers willing to serve on township boards, commissions and committees.

The openings were recently announced in the township's Summer 2013 newsletter, which is available for download from the Lower Saucon Township website.

Environmental Advisory Council (EAC)

The township is looking for township residents to fill three associate member vacancies on the Environmental Advisory Committee (EAC).

The EAC is a 12-person advisory board, 7 of whom are voting members and 5 of whom are associate or non-voting members. The EAC meets monthly to discuss a variety of environmental issues facing the township and provide advice and recommendations to the township council. Regular duties include plan review, public education, research, promotion of programs such as preservation of natural areas and water quality, and planning for a viable approach to natural resource protection.

Zoning Hearing Board

The township is looking for a township resident to fill a vacancy on the Zoning Hearing Board.

The Zoning Hearing Board is a five-member board whose primary purpose is to help assure fair and equitable application and administration of the Township Zoning Ordinance. The board hears appeals of the zoning officer’s determinations and has the authority to grant relief from the literal enforcement of the ordinance in certain hardship situations.
