Township Council Approves Online Survey Subscription

Numerous organizations will be able to utilize the online surveys.

Lower Saucon Township Council approved the purchase of an annual subscription to an online survey website at its Dec. 21 meeting.

The subscription to SurveyMonkey will cost the township $66.66 per year and will allow numerous organizations to conduct surveys online.

The local council of governments, , recommended at its last meeting that all member bodies approve the annual purchase.

“It is a lot less intrusive than phone calls,” said council vice president Tom Maxfield.

Lower Saucon Township Manager Jack Cahalan told council he saw a presentation by Councilman Tom Rieger and Athletic Director Bob Frey about the online survey website, and he believes it's an easy way to collect and analyze data.

“It is an incredible tool to find out what the community wants,” said council president Glenn Kern.

Cahalan said this tool would be very helpful for the and the Saucon Valley Recreation Partnership.

In other business, Cahalan publicly announced the formation of the recreation partnership.

The Saucon Valley Recreation Partnership, which includes representatives from , Hellertown and the Saucon Valley School District, was formed to explore joint recreation opportunities.

He said the partnership grew out of group meetings that have been held since last September.

“(The partnership) doesn’t obligate us to do anything but meet and discuss these items,” Cahalan said. “Right now, the commitment is to keep meeting and discussing.”

The partnership has been working with a Department of Conservation and Natural Resources peer consultant and has drafted an agreement that establishes its by-laws.
