Township Announces Appointment of Junior Councilors

Jameson Packer will serve as Junior Council Member to Lower Saucon Township Council, while April Koehler will serve as Junior Council Member to the Lower Saucon Township Parks & Recreation Board.

has announced the appointment of two local young people to serve as Junior Council members on township boards and committees.

Jameson Packer, a senior at , has been appointed as the Junior Council Member to Lower Saucon Township Council. Prior to this year, Jameson served two years as junior representative to the township's Planning Commission.

April Koehler, a senior at the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Performing Arts, has been appointed as Junior Council Member to the Township Parks & Recreation Board.

Pennsylvania's Junior Council Program provides high school sophomores, juniors and seniors with an opportunity to participate in the governing process in their local communities, according to a press release from Lower Saucon Township Manager Jack Cahalan.

The program, which is under the direction of the Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs, enables high school students "to gain an understanding and be able to explain to their peers what municipal government is all about," Cahalan said.

"The Township Council is extremely pleased with the interest and enthusiasm displayed by (Packer and Koehler), and looks forward to their input and participation during their coming terms," he added.
