Thursday's L. Saucon Planning Commission Meeting Canceled

The Lower Saucon Township Planning Commission meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday has been canceled because of a conflict with a Lehigh Valley Planning Commission meeting.

Lower Saucon Township announced Wednesday morning that the planning commission meeting scheduled to be held Thursday, July 25 at 7 p.m. has been canceled, due to a conflict with a Lehigh Valley Planning Commission meeting.

The Lehigh Valley Planning Commission is expected to vote on a recommendation by its Comprehensive Planning Committee not to endorse a proposed zoning change in the Applebutter Road area of Lower Saucon Township.

That recommendation was handed down Tuesday.

Rezoning the land in that area could pave the way for a western expansion proposed by IESI Bethlehem Landfill.

Residents have been outspoken both for and against the proposed expansion.

The township planning commission was expected to discuss the proposed rezoning map and text amendment at its meeting scheduled for the same time as the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission meeting.

The next Lower Saucon Township Planning Commission meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 22 at 7 p.m. at Lower Saucon Town Hall, 3700 Old Philadelphia Pike.
