Rt. 412 Temporary Widening, Paving to Begin July 9

Motorists should expect lane restrictions and delays between 7pm and 6am, at least through July 23.

PennDOT has announced that temporary widening and paving on Route 412 in Bethlehem and Hellertown will begin Monday, July 9, and that motorists should expect delays, according to a travel advisory posted on the Hellertown Borough website.

From July 9-23, work related to the temporary widening and paving phase will be conducted from 7pm to 6am in a work zone that includes the following areas:

  • Silvex Road from the Route 412 intersection to the Park and Ride parking lot.
  • Route 412 from Daly Avenue in Bethlehem to Cherry Lane in Hellertown.
  • The I-78 eastbound and westbound on/off ramps.

PennDOT said in its announcement that the July 23 end date for this phase of the project is tentative.

"One lane of traffic will be maintained in both directions (on Route 412), with the exception of Silvex Road, where flagging operations will be utilized," PennDOT said.
