Reinhard Demolition Could Begin Within Days

The vacant Hellertown school building has been prepped for a date with the wrecking ball.

Demolition of the Reinhard School in Hellertown could begin as early as Thursday or Friday of this week, Borough Manager Cathy Kichline indicated in a Jan. 10 email.

Kichline said that work related to asbestos abatement at the vacant building may be completed by a contractor by Wednesday, Jan. 11.

Once that work is completed, the contractor handling the demolition plans to begin tearing down the gymnasium area first, Kichline said.

The gymnasium is part of the school's 1950s brick addition, which is located behind the 1910 yellow stucco main building on Northampton Street.
