Proposed Performing Arts Studio to Be Discussed at Borough Planning Meeting

The Hellertown Borough Planning Commission will review a plan for a performing arts studio at 1304 Main Street at its Feb. 15, 2012 meeting.

Hellertown Planning Commission members will consider a proposal by local business owner Dano Guerrieri at their Wednesday, Feb. 15 meeting.

In a Feb. 14, 2012 letter from planning commisssion engineer Bryan Smith of Barry Isett & Associates, details of the proposal for a performing arts studio at 1304 Main Street, Hellertown, were revealed.

"The applicant proposes a change in use from apartment to a performing arts studio," Smith wrote. "It is our understanding that no exterior building modifications or additions are being proposed by the applicant and (that) the studio will replace the second floor apartment."

The two-story building is located at the corner of Main and Ackerman streets and has shared off-street parking at its rear, with access from Clarke Street, Smith said.

Smith said the occupant of the second floor space would be The Performing Arts Studio, "a commerical school with enrolled students, which is a permitted use in the Mixed Use (Zoning) District."

Individual, private lessons are expected to be offered, and the need for parking is therefore expected to be minimal, Smith wrote.
