Polk Valley Park Pavilion, Tot Lot Discussed

Polk Valley Park in Lower Saucon Township is scheduled to be upgraded with the addition of a pavilion and tot lot.

The members of Lower Saucon Township Council recently heard about plans for a pavilion and tot lot at Polk Valley Park.

Township Manager Jack Cahalan told council that the Parks & Recreation committee reviewed various configurations for the location of the pavilion and tot lot within the park.

It ultimately decided that the play area should be built close to the athletic fields, for the convenience of parents watching their older children participate in sports.

The proposed pavilion will be 30 feet wide by 66 feet long, and will be reflective of its natural surroundings it terms of its color scheme.

The colors of the structure, council was told, will be green, brown and beige.

There will be an area set aside for barbecuing, Cahalan said.

The tot lot will be equipped with various types of play structures surrounded by rubberized safety mulch.

A sail-type shade covering above the tot lot will help prevent the play equipment from deteriorating in the hot summer sun.
