The education center will abut the school district campus, in between the middle and schools and Polk Valley Park.

He explained that an assembly focused on the plans for the environmental education center will be held in the gym, and tours of the site will be offered from 11am to 1pm on April 20.

"That could be a good time to cut the ribbon on this connector trail," he added.

Councilwoman Priscilla deLeon agreed.

"I think that's a good idea, because you want to do these things when there's a lot of people there," she said.

Council president Glenn Kern asked Cahalan to coordinate with school district officials to schedule the ribbon-cutting at an appropriate time.

Council members and --who helped construct the trail--are expected to attend the ceremony.

Cahalan said paving of the connector trail will take place the week of April 16.
