New Alert System Launches in Lower Saucon

Residents can register to receive emergency and public safety alerts via the township's website.

Last week Lower Saucon Township announced on its website that as of Feb. 8, it is utilizing a new communications service called Nixle.

According to the announcement, the service "allows township public safety officials to send important, valuable community information directly to residents using the latest technology."

The service allows the township to publish messages from the police, emergency management and public works departments.

The messages are then delivered to subscribed residents via text message and/or email, with notifications also accessible online at Lower Saucon Township’s website or the Nixle website.

Examples of messages that will be sent out via the new system include:

  • Advisories on road closures
  • Snow emergency announcements
  • Information about flooding or power outages
  • Public safety alerts

According to the announcement, "the service is secure, reliable and easy to use."

Residents can begin receiving alerts by registering at www.lowersaucontownship.org/alerts or www.nixle.com.
