Landfill Tour Being Offered to Local Residents

Steel City resident Donna Louder told Lower Saucon Township Council June 6 that a tour of IESI Bethlehem Landfill is being planned for township residents concerned about a proposed expansion of the facility.

The rezoning would make possible, and will be discussed at the June 28 Lower Saucon Township Planning Commission meeting.

According to Louder, IESI Bethlehem Landfill manager Sam Donato left a letter on her porch in which he proposed a tour of the landfill for residents who are concerned about the expansion.

"He's going to provide a limousine bus," Louder told council.

The hour-and-a-half tour is tentatively planned for Saturday, June 16 at 9am, with the bus departing from .

Louder said she would be providing Donato with a head count of residents planning to go on the tour in advance.
