Important Public Meetings Scheduled Today, Tomorrow

Although local residents' thoughts are perhaps already turning toward upcoming Memorial Day weekend plans, officials from and have important work to do before they can enjoy the holiday.

Two important meetings will be held before the long weekend, and members of the public may want to consider attending one or both of them.

On Wednesday afternoon, the results of conducted earlier this year by the state's Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) will be discussed at a special joint meeting of the Hellertown Borough and Lower Saucon Township councils.

The meeting will be held in the cafeteria, 2100 Polk Valley Road, at 4pm.

And on Thursday, the Lower Saucon Township Planning Commission will discuss draft map and text amendments to the township's zoning ordinance that could lead to revising the Light Industrial and Light Manufacturing districts located in the Applebutter Road area.

Included within that area are  and an area west of the facility, which , pending township and DEP approval.

The draft provisions the planning commission will discuss include two options for potentially expanding the Light Industrial district to encompass the entire Light Manufacturing district and portions of the rural agricultural district.

The commission will meet Thursday at 7pm in Lower Saucon Town Hall, 3700 Old Philadelphia Pike.
