Hellertown Tax Rates Will Remain Unchanged in 2014

Hellertown Borough Council voted to maintain the borough's current real estate tax rate of 18.75 mills and fire tax rate of 1.5 mills in 2014 at a meeting Monday.

Hellertown Borough Council voted Monday to maintain the borough's current real estate tax rate of 18.75 mills and fire tax rate of 1.5 mills in 2014.

The motion to keep the tax rates at their current total level—20.25 mills—passed 4-3, with council members Joe Pampanin, Gail Nolf and Tom Rieger dissenting.

At Monday's meeting council members also bid farewell to borough council president Phil Weber, whose term in office comes to an end later this month.

As a symbol of appreciation for his years of service as a member of borough council, Weber was presented with a ceremonial gavel by Mayor Richard Fluck.
