Halloween Parade Marches on Main Street

For the first time in a long time, the annual Saucon Valley Halloween Parade marched down Main Street in Hellertown, where crowds cheered for floats, bands and hometown heroes.

The day couldn't have been more perfect for the annual Saucon Valley Halloween Parade on Sunday, as thousands of spectators enjoyed the colorful sites and sounds it spread throughout Hellertown.

A number of local middle and high school marching bands performed traditional songs, while most parade participants tossed handfuls of candy to anxious children along the route.

Following is a list of 2011 parade winners and sponsors, provided by parade chairman David Heintzelman.

This year's parade's theme was "Super Heroes of Saucon Valley."

First place category winners received $100, second place winners received $75 and third place winners received $50. The Judges' Choice winner received a prize of $150.

If anyone has photos of the parade they'd like to upload, please feel free to do so! We captured many of the bands, floats and marchers, but certainly not everyone. Thank you to everyone who helped make this a special day for so many in the community.

Not to rain on the parade, but.... I don't know first-hand how this parade was; however, I do know that the blocking of so many of the side roads made it frustratingly impossible for many of us to get to the other end of town. I needed to get to the other end of town, as well as, obviously, many others...but I, as well as others, could not due to all of the road blocks. Seeing no other choice, I eventually gave up and returned home. I hope this will somehow be corrected in the future as this was not such a problem in the past. Other than this, I'm happy to hear that the parade went off well.

I have gone to this parade for 38 yrs and never once have I had a problem with all the streets blocked 1 hr before they even started . Needless to say i will always return because this is my home town and I love it plus love traditions . But please do something diffrent for next year having it on main street was diffrent but to many streets blocked off way to early. Mr. Heintzeman does a great job for our boro and we are very happy to have him Thank You

I can see "blues" point, but the benefit of the parade being on Main street out weighs any cons of the parade being on Main St. It was great to see some Main St eateries flourishing during the parade. Keep the parade on Main St! Thanks David for doing such an outstanding job

*Obviously*, George, you should not be permitted to post such an uncalled for, ignorant, and childish remark. Inappropriate.
