County Receives Sandy Federal Disaster Declaration

The action makes federal funding available to Pennsylvania, eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations, according to a news release. Individual assistance will not be made available.

The following information was originally posted on the Lower Saucon Township website, www.lowersaucontownship.org:

FEMA announced on Jan. 10, 2013 that federal disaster aid has been made available to Pennsylvania to supplement the commonwealth and local recovery efforts in the area affected by Hurricane Sandy during the period of Oct. 26 to Nov. 8, 2012.

The President's action makes federal funding available to the commonwealth and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by Hurricane Sandy in Bedford, Bucks, Cameron, Dauphin, Forest, Franklin, Fulton, Huntingdon, Juniata, Monroe, Northampton, Pike, Potter, Somerset, Sullivan and Wyoming counties.

It is important to note that this Presidential declaration was only given for Public Assistance. It does not include Individual Assistance (homeowners, renters or businesses). Pennsylvania did not meet the threshold that was needed to qualify for Individual Assistance.
