Borough Brush Collection Scheduled for June 20-24

Hellertown Public Works Director Tom Henshaw announced the dates at Borough Council's June 6 meeting.

Hellertown residents eager to get rid of their accumulated brush and other yard waste will have the opportunity to place it curbside for pick-up later this month, Borough Public Works Director Tom Henshaw announced at Hellertown Borough Council's June 6 meeting.

The brush collection is scheduled for the week of June 20-24, he announced.

Brush put out for pick-up should be bundled into "four foot lengths" and "contained somehow," Henshaw said.

"It was a big hit," Henshaw told council members. "It was a good day all around. It was packed."

The 24-hour walkathon is an annual major fundraiser sponsored by the American Cancer Society, and this year's relay was successful in raising more than $20,000 for the cancer charity.

In other business at the meeting, Borough Council President Phil Weber informed Henshaw that the bocce court at is prime for redevelopment.

"I have heard nothing about the bocce court, so you have permission to do what you want," Weber said to him.

Henshaw said he would like to install picnic tables where the court is, so that visitors to the park have somewhere to sit other than the pavilion.
