Woman Threatened to Burn Down House, Police Say

Lower Saucon Township Police say officers 'arrived at the right time' to prevent a woman from burning down her home.

Lower Saucon Township Police say a resident of the 1900 block of Foley Avenue threatened to kill herself and burn down her house because it is being foreclosed on.

In a news release, police said Julie Sands, 44, lied about her name when police arrived to check on her welfare.

Police said that in addition to making the threats, Sands removed photos from the home and took gasoline inside the house.

"Police arrived at the right time," they said in the news release.

Sands, who police said was hospitalized following the incident, has been charged with presenting false identification to law enforcement.
