Woman Drove Drunk With Child in Car, Police Say

Nikol Calantoni, 43, of Pen Argyl, was arrested on charges of DUI and endangering the welfare of children on Dec. 17.

A Pen Argyl woman who was determined to be driving while intoxicated did so while she had a 5-year-old passenger in her vehicle, Hellertown police announced Wednesday.

In a press release, police said that Nikol Calantoni, 43, of the 100 block of East Laurel Avenue, Pen Argyl, was stopped on Dec. 17 at the eastbound on-ramp to I-78 at Route 412, after she was allegedly observed driving erratically.

Police said Calantoni was operating a silver Ford Explorer at the time, and that she was stopped at 6:21pm.

Police said Calantoni was processed at the Bethlehem DUI Center and was subsequently arraigned on a charge of endangering the welfare of children, because she had a 5-year-old passenger in her vehicle at the time of the stop.

Calantoni was later released on $2,500 unsecured police, according to police.
