Hellertown Police say a Riegelsville area woman was charged with possession of a controlled substance (heroin) and possession of drug paraphernalia after she was allegedly found with the drug in a National Penn Bank branch at 741 Main St. on Oct. 9.

Hellertown Police say a Riegelsville area woman was charged with possession of a controlled substance (heroin) and possession of drug paraphernalia after she was allegedly found with the drug in a National Penn Bank branch at 741 Main St. on the afternoon of Oct. 9.

In a press release issued Tuesday, police said officers were called to the downtown branch after Julie E. Fitzsimons, 28, of the 400 block of County Line Road, exhibited signs of intoxication, including trouble speaking and falling asleep.

Police said chemical testing of a substance found in Fitzsimons' possession later determined that it was heroin, and that charges were filed based on the lab results.
