Under Armour Employee Stole $2,300, Police Say

Nina Maria Magan, 22, of Lower Saucon Township, allegedly stole more than $2,300 while working as an assistant manager in the Under Armour store in The Shoppes at Sands in Bethlehem.

An assistant manager at the Under Armour store in the mall at the Sands Bethlehem casino has admitted to stealing more than $2,300 from the store "to pay her bills," court records say.

Nina Maria Magan, 22, of the 2100 block of Schwab Avenue in the Steel City section of Lower Saucon Township, was charged Friday with theft by deception and receiving stolen property.

Her alleged actions, which occurred between Dec. 27 and Friday, were captured on the store’s surveillance video, according to a criminal complaint filed by Bethlehem Police Officer Jeffrey Fehr.

The complaint says Magan took merchandise from store shelves and returned it for store gift cards, then converted the gift cards into cash she took from the register and kept for herself.

The total amount she is accused of stealing is $2,361.42, the complaint says.

Fehr said he learned about Magan’s alleged actions from an asset protection investigator employed by Under Armour Inc. The store is part of The Shoppes at Sands, Bethlehem.

The investigator told Fehr there were at least 17 "fraudulent transactions" in which the suspect "stole money from the store," the complaint says.

Fehr said he talked to Magan, who allegedly admitted to the thefts and said she used the money "to pay her bills."

Magan was arraigned Friday by District Judge Nancy Matos Gonzalez of Bethlehem and was released on $7,500 bail.
