Truck Driver to Be Fined $16,000 for Accident: Police

Lower Saucon Township Police say an Ohio truck driver will receive a $16,557 fine for violating a 10-ton weight limit on Ringhoffer Road, where he allegedly caused an accident.

A Freightliner truck that crashed into a guide rail and bridge on Ringhoffer Road was too heavy to be traveling on the road, Lower Saucon Township Police said in a news release.

According to police, the May 17 accident closed the intersection of Easton and Ringhoffer roads for about two-and-a-half hours, and was caused when the driver of the truck "took the wrong route" and couldn't make the turn from Ringhoffer onto Easton, breaking an axle when he crashed.

Police identified the Freightliner driver as Lyle Fillmore, 60, of the 400 block of Canal Street, Antwerp, Ohio.

Police said Fillmore was cited for a "Restrictions on Use of Highways and Bridges" violation and will receive a fine of $16,557 for the citation.
