Stickup at Holiday Inn Express Netted $195, Police Say

A man brandished a gun and demanded money from a clerk at the Holiday Inn Express on Cherry Lane, on the Hellertown border, according to police.

A clerk at the Holiday Inn Express near Interstate 78 in South Bethlehem was held up at gunpoint at about 9:45 p.m. Sunday, Bethlehem police said.

The male robber got away with about $195 in cash from the hotel at 2201 Cherry Lane, which is very close to the city’s border with Hellertown, police said.

No other details were made available.

Alert Hellertown Patch readers who posted comments on Facebook said that borough police were also part of the response to the robbery late Sunday.

"They were combing through our alleys with a searchlight looking for him," Rebecca Walser said. "We heard tons of sirens and cops from Bethlehem, and Hellertown were everywhere."

"Hellertown police searched through the neighborhoods while Bethlehem was mostly surrounding the hotel," she added.
