What's being a volunteer firefighter like?
“I love it. I’ve been doing it since I was 14 so I’ve been around the block here. It’s fun. I enjoy it and it keeps me out of trouble.”
How do your loved ones feel about you putting your life in danger?
“My mom is alright with it. She knows that I’m helping other people out so she’s willing to live with it. She’s glad I’m doing something for other people.”
Tell us a story you'll never forget about your firefighting experience.
“My first fire. We rolled up and it was just engulfed. There was really nothing we could do when we got there. That was my first memory of a big fire. I was 16. It was in the Lower Saucon area by Lehigh University.”
What would you tell people interested in joining your fire company?
“It’s a great group of people. It’s pretty much your family. Everyone helps each other out. We all learn from each other, whether we’re new firefighters or experienced firefighters. Everybody learns from each other and it’s just a good time. We always have fun even when we’re not training. We always have fun when we’re training, too.”
