What's being a volunteer firefighter like?

“It’s fun. It’s self-satisfying when you’re able to help somebody. It’s neat meeting a lot of new people. You have your family at home and you have your family down here as well. Everybody has each other’s back no matter what.”

How do your loved ones feel about you putting your life in danger?

“They’re okay with it because it’s something I want to do. They don’t ask me not to. When I go for calls, they always worry and hope I come back.”

“There are so many stories! They all stick out. None of them really sticks out more than any other.”

What would you tell people interested in joining your fire company?

“Do it for the right reasons. Do it because you want to do it, not because it’s cool. Just stay safe doing it.”
