A woman who was a passenger in a car driven by her son suffered a head injury in an accident Sunday evening, Lower Saucon Township Police announced in a press release Tuesday.
According to police, Scott S. Smith, 41, of the 2000 block of Leithsville Road, Lower Saucon, was driving in the 1800 block of Leithsville Road when he failed to keep enough distance between his vehicle and the vehicle in front of him.
Police said Smith then became distracted and "rear-ended the vehicle in front of him, causing a chain reaction."
The vehicle in front of Smith reportedly struck the vehicle it was behind, which was stopped at a red light, according to police.
Smith's mother was taken to a local hospital for treatment of her injury following the 7:43pm accident, police said.
Smith will be charged with "driving vehicle at safe speed," authorities added.
