Anyone with information about the Friday evening accident is asked to call the Hellertown Police Department at 610-759-2200.

Hellertown police have issued a news release with a few more details on a Friday night incident in which a woman was struck by a car and injured on Main Street near Saucon Valley Manor.

The case is still under investigation.

Police identified the woman who was injured as a 45-year-old borough resident, and said officers were initially called to the scene—which is in the 1000 block of Main Street—for a report of a disturbance.

When they arrived, they found the woman lying in the road.

The incident was initially characterized as a pedestrian hit-and-run accident.

A man who police said was involved in the disturbance was identified as Terry Borger, 47, of the 400 block of Main Street, and police said he was arrested for suspicion of DUI "further down the road" from where the 9:11 p.m. accident happened.

Police said they believe that prior to the accident, a woman was "banging on and attempting to get in a white Ford truck."

Following the accident, police said the woman who was found lying on the road was taken by Dewey EMS for treatment and evaluation at St. Luke's University Hospital in Fountain Hill.

Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call the Hellertown Police Department at 610-759-2200.
