Police: Scam Artist/Burglar Team on the Loose in Area

A Southern Lehigh couple are the most recent victims of a diversion burglary.

Upper Saucon Township police are warning area residents to be aware of scam artists that are currently going door to door using a tactic called a "diversion burglary."

Police say they responded to a call Wednesday evening at around 5pm on Jacoby Road in Upper Saucon. When they arrived, officers learned that a couple were approached in their home by a man claiming to "be doing some tree work" at a nearby neighbor's home.

While the couple were out back looking at potential "work," another person entered the home, removing valuables.

The man who approched the couple is described as a white male in his early 40s to 50s with a ruddy complexion, and approximately 5'10" tall. The individuals were driving a light-colored, 2-door pickup truck with a diamond-plated toolbox in the truck bed. Police say the scam artists could be attempting this M.O. throughout the region, and urge residents to alert friends, family and neighbors.

Police are asking that anyone with information about these individuals call the Upper Saucon Police Department at 610-282-3064.
