Lower Saucon Township Police announced late this afternoon that was the result of an alleged false report to law enforcement.

According to a police department press release, officers responded to the home of Gary Trittenbach Jr., 1651 Pleasant View Road, after he reported that his wife was being held at gunpoint by a black male.

When they arrived at Trittenbach's home, police say he told them the armed man had let his wife go and was hiding in some bushes in front of the home "with a gun."

"The bushes and the residence were searched but nobody was found," police said.

"The caller's wife was found at her mother's residence several miles away and knew nothing about being held at gunpoint by a black male," they added.

According to police, Trittenbach remained "adamant" that the incident had occurred, and was taken to St. Luke's University Hospital for a psychological evaluation.

Charges related to the incident are pending the results of that evaluation, authorities said.
