Police: Man Who Reported Gun Incident Was on Meth

Lower Saucon Township Police say Gary Trittenbach Jr., 35, of Pleasant View Road, ingested a gram of methamphetamine before reporting that his wife was being held at gunpoint July 2.

A Lower Saucon Township man whose caused a July 2 was allegedly high on the drug methamphetamine when he reported that his wife was being held at gunpoint, police announced Monday.

In a press release, police said Gary Trittenbach Jr., 35, of 1651 Pleasant View Road, Lower Saucon, admitted to authorities that he ingested a gram of meth "because he didn't want to get busted with it" and that he may have been delusional because of the drug.

Lower Saucon Township Police responded to Trittenbach's neighborhood on the morning of July 2, after he allegedly called to report that a black man was holding his wife at gunpoint.

When police arrived, they say Trittenbach told them the man had "climbed out the window and was hiding in the bushes with an assault rife in front of his house."

Police said they checked the bushes around the home and found no one.

Trittenbach's wife was determined to be several miles away at her mother's house and knew nothing of the incident her husband had reported, they said.

Police said Monday that Trittenbach--who received a psychological evaluation at St. Luke's University Hospital following the incident--has been charged with False Reports to Law Enforcement.
