Police: Man Wanted in Maryland Arrested in Borough

Hellertown police arrested Luis Daniel Santana, of Bethlehem, following a traffic stop Sept. 23. A passenger in Santana's vehicle was also arrested at the time.

A Bethlehem man stopped for an alleged traffic violation in Hellertown Sept. 23 turned out to have active warrants for a drug-related offense in Maryland, borough police announced Thursday.

According to a police press release, Luis Daniel Santana, 28, of the 900 block of East Sixth Street, was placed under arrest following the traffic stop at 9:59pm.

Police said that during a subsequent inventory of Santana's car, marijuana, money, a scale and packaging materials were discovered and seized.

A passenger in Santana's vehicle at the time of the stop, identified as Jessica Ann Maree, 20, of the 3300 block of Airport Road, Hanover Township, at the time admitted to officers that she was in possession of cocaine and turned it over to them, police said.

Maree has been charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.

Santana has been charged with being a fugitive from justice, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to deliver marijuana.

Both Maree and Santana were arraigned before District Justice James Narlesky, with bail set at $10,000 cash for Maree and bail set at $100,000 cash for Santana, police said.

A search warrant was issued for Santana's vehicle, however nothing else was recovered from it, they added.
