Police: Man Veered Toward Woman in Crosswalk and Cursed at Her

As a result of the alleged Aug. 2 incident, Hellertown police have charged Jeffery M. Salash, of Hellertown, with reckless endangering, reckless driving, disorderly conduct and failing to yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk.

On Aug. 2 at 12:08pm, Hellertown police say they received a complaint about a reckless driver.

Following an investgation, police say they learned that Jeffery M. Salash, 37, of the 500 block of Rentzheimer Drive, Hellertown, was driving his 1997 Dodge Intrepid when he allegedly veered toward a woman walking in a pedestrian crosswalk in the 500 block of Durham Street, near the Hellertown Pool.

Salash also "began cursing at the woman" before he "sped off to his residence," police said in a press release.

As a result of the alleged incident, Salash has been charged with reckless endangering, reckless driving, disorderly conduct and failing to yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk, police said, adding that he will receive a summons via mail.
