Police: Man Said Twist Tie Was Part of 'Bomb Detonator'

Lower Saucon Township Police say a local man told customers at Giant Food Store that a harmless twist tie from a bread loaf's packaging was a piece of a bomb detonator.

A Lower Saucon Township man was charged with disorderly conduct Saturday, after he allegedly told customers at the local that a twist tie from a bread loaf's packaging was part of a bomb detonator.

said in a press release Sunday that Robert Hero Jr., of the 1900 block of Fairway Road, "was observed in the parking lot of the Giant Food Store talking to customers in reference to bomb detonators" at about 10:30am.

"Robert held up a twist tie from a loaf of bread and stated that it was just a piece of a bomb detonator," police said.

Authorities said they subsequently determined that Hero "had no such device and was supposed to be shopping with his mother."

They said they also determined that Hero had consumed alcohol prior to visiting the store.
