Police: Man Had Coffee Cup Half Full of Beer in Car

Lower Saucon Township Police say Juan Maldonado, of the 1100 block of Mechanic Street, Bethlehem, was charged with transporting open containers of alcohol Jan. 18.

A Bethlehem man was charged with transporting open containers of alcohol Jan. 18, after Lower Saucon Township Police say a coffee mug half full of beer and several open bottles of Rolling Rock beer were found in his car following a vehicle stop on Route 412.

In a press relase, police said Juan Maldonado, of the 1100 block of Mechanic Street, was stopped at 1:57pm for driving with a suspended registration due to insurance cancellation.

It was subsequently learned that his license was also suspended, authorities said.

Police Maldonado claimed that the "open containers were from when his mechanic was looking at his vehicle."

In addition to the open container violation, police said Maldonado was charged with driving with a suspended license and driving without insurance.
