Police: Man Assaulted Woman, Tried to Steal Purse

Hellertown police are investigating an incident that reportedly occurred early on Nov. 4.

Hellertown police are investigating an assault and attempted purse-snatching which they say occurred near the intersection of Oak and Bachman streets at about 2:30am on Nov. 4.

According to a police department press release, an unidentified Caucasian male assaulted a female victim and then attempted to steal her purse.

The man is described as being 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches in height, with a thin to medium build. He was reported to have facial injuries--possibly including a broken nose--and was last seen wearing blue jeans and a black hoodie with white lettering and designs on it, police said.
