Hit-and-Run Vehicle Sought in Front Street Incident

Hellertown Police investigating an accident that occurred in the 700 block of Front Street on Jan. 29.

An elderly man was apparently behind the wheel of a vehicle that sideswiped a Pontiac Firebird that was parked in the 700 block of Front Street on Jan. 29, Hellertown Police announced Thursday.

In a press release, police said the accident occurred at about 1:15 p.m.

The motorist responsible for the accident was driving a black van that was "possibly a newer style Chrysler Town and Country or Plymouth Voyager," police said.

After striking the Firebird, police say the man in the van continued south on Front Street and made a left onto Walnut Street.

"The van should have red paint transfer on the driver side front bumper and fender," according to the news release.

Anyone with information about the accident is asked to contact the Hellertown Police Department at 610-838-7040.

Police added that they have a photograph of the van traveling south on Front Street.
