Police: Drunk Driver Crashed Car into Propane Tanks

Hellertown police say Freedom Justin Negron, 22, of Bethlehem, was intoxicated when he drove into propane tanks at 7-Eleven on Main Street March 4.

An accident allegedly caused by a drunk driver March 4 could have been worse, according to a press release issued Tuesday by the Hellertown Police Department.

According to police, officers responded to the convenience store at 1100 Main St. at 4:03am, after they received a report of a car having crashed into propane tanks in front of the store.

Police said that upon their arrival at the scene, officers observed driver Freedom Justin Negron, 22, of the 900 block of Vernon Street, Bethlehem, and passenger Staphon Caleb Lawrence, 20, of the 600 block of Ramblewood Lane, Freemansburg, to be intoxicated.

Negron, who was arrested for DUI, was determined to have a blood alcohol concentration of .15 percent, police said.

Lawrence will receive a summons for underage drinking, they added.

According to police, in spite of the collision with propane tanks, no one was injured.
