Police: Connecticut Man Stole from Discount Store

Hellertown police arrested Jean Elie Absence on Sept. 30, according to an article published by the Express-Times.

A Connecticut man was arrested Sept. 28 in Hellertown on charges of receiving stolen property, fraudulent use of a license plate, theft and driving without a valid license, according to a story published today on LehighValleyLive.com.

According to the article, 40-year-old Jean Elie Absence, of Milford, Conn., was driving a vehicle bearing a stolen license plate when he was stopped by Hellertown police on Main Street.

Inside the vehicle--along with several thousand dollars and merchandise from other stores--police allegedly found bags containing merchandise that had been reported stolen from the store at 3 Main Street, including six sticks of deodorant and eight packages of 9-volt batteries.

Absence was committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail, according to the story.
