Police Confirm Discovery of Fetus in Starters

Lower Saucon Township Police announce Monday afternoon that an investigation is continuing into the discovery of a fetus inside a toilet tank at Starters Pub on Rt. 378.

In a brief press release, the Lower Saucon Township Police Department confirmed Monday afternoon what most major media organizations have been reporting all day -- that "a human fetus was found in the ladies restroom of Starters Pub."

Starters, a popular local restaurant and bar, is at 3731 Route 378 in the Saucon Square shopping center.

The police press release said the gestation stage of the fetus will be disclosed upon completion of an investigation by the Northampton County Coroner's office.

"The current joint investigation with the Coroner's Office and the Northampton County District Attorney's office is ongoing," police said, adding that "additional information will follow upon completion of [the] investigation."

Several media sources, including the Express-Times, have reported that the fetus was found inside a toilet tank after a member of a morning cleaning crew was unable to flush the toilet and removed the top of the tank.

In an emotional interview with a member of the newspaper's staff Monday, Starters owner Dave Rank said he is devastated by the discovery inside his business and asked members of the public to pray for the mother and the baby.
