Police Chief Commends Summer Pool Staff

Hellertown Police Chief Robert Shupp told Borough Council members he is pleased with professionalism and diligence displayed by the pool's youthful staff this summer.

In an update to Hellertown Borough Council Monday, Police Chief Robert Shupp commended the staff at the borough swimming pool for their professionalism and attention to duty this summer.

After a tumultuous 2012 season, new pool rules were enacted prior to the start of the 2013 season, and Shupp said the staff's enforcement of them has helped the police department.

For example, he said the routine checking of coolers by staff has prevented prohibited items from being brought inside the gates by patrons.

"We haven't had hardly any incidents (there) this year," he said.

"I would really like to take my hat off to (the pool staff)," he added.

Friday is the final day of the 2013 season at the Hellertown Community Pool.
