Police: Borough Man Found With Packets of Heroin

Borough police say Shawn Michael Kozack, 21, of 30 E. Depot Street, Hellertown, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and other charges June 25.

A borough man was arrested on numerous charges June 25, after police say he was found to be in possession of packets of heroin and wanted on warrants.

In a press release Friday, police said they were called to the area of 30 E. Depot St. at approximately 2am for a report of "a suspicious male sitting inside a van."

When police arrived they said the man fled, but was soon found hiding in a nearby yard.

Police said he was identified as Shawn Michael Kozack, 21, of 30 E. Depot St., Hellertown.

Kozack, who was wanted on outstanding warrants from Northampton and Lehigh counties, was found to have packets of heroin and drug paraphernalia in his vehicle, police said.

He was subsequently arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance, driving under the influence of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence of a controlled substance, disorderly conduct, driving under suspension and driving without a license, according to the press release.

Police said Kozack was turned over to the Northampton County Sheriff's Department and committed to Northampton County Prison, pending court action.
