Police Activity Reported at Hellertown Pharmacy

Law enforcement agents have been at the Hellertown Pharmacy since Thursday morning. A customer who tried to enter the store Thursday afternoon was greeted at the door by an agent.

Law enforcement agents are on-scene at the Hellertown Pharmacy today, though it remains unclear why.

A Patch reader reported seeing "FBI and DEA agents" at the Hellertown druggist Thursday morning on the Hellertown Patch Facebook page.

As of early Thursday afternoon, agents could be seen inside the store--which is located in the Shoppes at Hellertown.

An elderly woman who attempted to enter the pharmacy was greeted at the front door by an agent who poked his head outside, briefly spoke to her and prevented her from entering the store.

A WFMZ Channel 69 News crew was shooting footage in the shopping center parking lot, and the station's website reported this afternoon that police activity is occurring at the pharmacy, though it said the reason for the activity remains unclear.

Officials have not released information about what is being investigated or which law enforcement agencies are involved, the story posted on the WFMZ website indicated.

Hellertown Pharmacy opened for business in late 2010.

Channel 69 said it would provide an updated report on the situation at the pharmacy on newscasts later today.
