NJ Fugitive Arrested on I-78 in Lower Saucon, Police Say

Pennsylvania State Police at Belfast say Maurice Williams, 26, of East Orange, was arrested on an outstanding warrant following an accident on I-78.

A man wanted by New Jersey authorities on a warrant was arrested following an accident on I-78 West in Lower Saucon Township, Pennsylvania State Police at Belfast said in a news release.

Police said Maurice Williams, 26, of East Orange, was a passenger in a pickup truck involved in the crash.

According to police, the accident occurred at 8:52 a.m. on Wednesday at mile marker 65.6, when Daniel Venuto, 23, of East Stroudsburg, was following too closely and rear-ended a 1998 Chevy K2500 pickup truck driven by Pia Reynolds, 25, of East Orange, N.J.

Venuto, who was driving a 2007 Infiniti G35, according to police, "veered off into the left hand lane" where his car temporarily blocked traffic following the collision.

The car was later towed from the scene, which Dewey Fire Co. and Dewey EMS responded to, police said.

Police said Williams, who was a passenger in Reynolds' truck, was found to be wanted on a warrant while the crash was under investigation.

Williams was arraigned at Northampton County Prison and is being held pending extradition, police said.
